Radio for Tehachapi
Imagine, if you will, a local radio station in Tehachapi.
...It’s getting closer!
Our Mission is to give Tehachapi a voice.
The goal of the Tehachapi Media Foundation is to create an actual FM over-the-air community radio station. However, getting an FCC license will probably take years. What we can do in the meantime is offer "radio" via the internet. We have now taken the first step -- a website with podcasts. When we have enough regular programming, these podcasts will be presented in a continuous stream, much like an actual radio station. We also plan to ad apps for smart phones.
Our first three programs include:
- On the Record - Interviews with community leaders, candidates for various offices and other persons of interest with host, former Mayor Deborah Hand.
- Veterans in Tehachapi - Discussions of issues concerning veterans with host Andy Chatos.
- Folkscene Tehachapi - Concerts recorded in Tehachapi by Peter Cutler for the syndicated "Folkscene" radio program.
More programs will be added soon, covering a wide variety of topics in our community. As with any public broadcasting entity, we will be applying for our non-profit status and expect to be a 501(c)(3) corporation in 2011.
